There are many ways you can spruce up an old leather handbag. All it takes is a little bit of creativity and imagination to give your bag a new life.
Many fashion houses turn to artists to help revamp classic styles into more timely pieces that fit the current trends. But in recent years, more people turn to DIYs to give their bags new life.
In 2014, Kim Kardashian proudly carried a Hermes Birkin bag hand-painted by her daughter North West. The bag featured an orange handprint with splashes of blue, white and yellow around, all this spruced up Kim’s toned down style and gave it a a young, fun look.
Inspired by Kim’s artistic statement, Heart Evangelista-Escudero recently held an exhibit featuring her paintings in Hermes bags. She shared that she actually stained one of her Hermes bags and was looking for a way to repair it when she saw the famous celebrity sporting the hand-painted bag. It gave her an idea to make her bag collection her new canvas.
On the other hand, if you feel like giving (literally) a new life to your old Louis Vuitton bags, you can turn it into something completely different from its original purpose, like a skateboard!
Hold up! This isn’t a limited edition Louis Vuitton skateboard! (Sorry LV collectors!)
In a recent episode of Braille Skateboarding’s You Make It, We Skate It show in Youtube, a fan sent in a board he claimed to be covered in genuine leather from his Mom’s beloved Louis Vuitton handbag. In what might be the most expensive grip tape in the world (despite leather having no grip at all), this skateboard managed to do just about all of the tricks and maneuvers they set out.
Check out the video below and see how this LV deck fared for these pro-skateboarders:
